Mobile Application Development & Localization
The client wants to expand their business in China due to the large number of mobile phone users in China market. So the client came to TecHome web development company to help them to develop several Android and iPhone apps with Chinese localization.
Here's an example of how we localized one of Android apps:
The Android app should handle text, images, videos, audios, numbers, date, and currency in ways appropriate to the locales where the application will be launched. |
1. Check the Default String Files Contain all Strings Android adopts the default resources as a fall-back option. If the app cannot find the appropriate resources for the local users, it will choose the default resources instead. |
2. Localize the Files in Get Localization Text – Translate text from original language to Mandarin Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Images, numbers, date, and currency – change their style or format to fit Chinese culture. Videos and audios – record the sound in Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, re-film videos if necessary. |
3. Import the Translations to the Application Android app developers put the localized strings files into the appropriate folders that have been named by their languages, for example, res/values-sim-cn/strings.xml for Simplified Chinese (Mandarin Chinese) strings. |

4. Testing the Localized Application Testing on Emulators Testing on Mobile Devices |
Website Localization & SEO Promotion in China Market
Meanwhile, the client needed Chinese localization for their company’s website to enter China market. Originally, the website offered two languages: Finish and English. So our web localization team re-designed, translated, developed, and tested the new versions in Mandarin Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
In order to promote their mobile applications in China, TecHome optimized their Chinese localized website on several main local search engines in China. Considering the aesthetic and behavior of local visitors, our SEO (Search Engine Optimization) team made some very helpful suggestions to promote the UI and content to attract potential customers. Because the main potential customers of their mobile apps are young people, so our SEO team suggested our client to buy search network and content network on main local search engines and popular social networking. As we expected, our client’s business is rapidly growing in China market, we believe their business will achieve great success in the near future.
