ASP.NET Customized Intranet Portal

This time our client was a securities and investments banking firm who values professionalism and community. The client wanted to simplify their workflows and add efficiencies to their company. Ineffective and complex workflows can be very problematic and expensive for a company. In order to avoid catastrophic breakdown within an organization, ineffective and complex workflows must be modified or must be eliminated; however, rashly adapting to new workflows would cause inconsistencies, bad moods, miscommunications, and wastages. Techome came up with a feasible plan to simplify workflows without manifesting more problems.

Techome team suggested that the client should utilize their intranet portal for a seamless transition between the old and new workflows. After learning about the client’s business capacity and business culture, Techome web application development team introduced a very unique feature to the intranet portal. The client had a very basic intranet portal built using ASP.NET, MVC framework MySQL, HTML, CSS, and VB. Since the intranet portal was built on a MVC framework, it was relatively easy for the web application development team to include the Form Processor feature.

The Form Processor would act as the human resource department and complete many useful tasks. The Form Processor feature can pass, reject and reassign forms based on employees or department information. Since the client values professionalism, majority of employee information were digitized in excel files. The web application development team only had to import the information from the excel files to the database system. Then the web application development had to modify and optimize the database system so that the new feature can easily and securely access these data. In addition, the ASP.Net MVC framework enables clean separation between the presentation layer, data model, and business logic. Techome web application development team changed the presentation of the intranet portal, so that people with less IT knowledge can use the intranet portal without much training.
