LAMP eCommerce Development
LAMP is an open source software bundle which includes Linux, Apache HTTP Server, MySQL, The powerful operating system, Linux, is compatible with various platforms. Apache run on Linux operating system. It provides MutliProcessing Modules (MPM) which enable Apache to have superior performance. MySQL database is fast compare to databases like Oracle. It can quickly insert and search for data when the schema is properly designed. The scripting language, PHP, enables web developers to create dynamic web pages. Techome web development team chose to use LAMP to develop an online e-Commerce shop for a retail sportswear store located in Australia.
The client specializes in selling sportswear and equipments. The owner wanted to expand and advertise their business by creating an eCommerce website. Easy to use and stylish layouts were two main focus of this project.
In this project, the following technologies were used: Linux Operating System, Apache HTTP Server, MySQL Database, PHP, CSS, HTML, JQuery, Ajax, JavaScript, and Smarty. More specifically, LAMP is used to develop the fundamental functionality of the eCommerce website. CSS, HTML, JQuery, Ajax, JavaScript, and Smarty were used for creating the look and feel of the website.
Design:
Smarty is a PHP based template system designed to split the process of coding and designing of a website or web application. With Smarty installed, the development team can focus on the customized features whilst the design team can work on design without interfering much with the development team.
Development:
When developing the backend system of the eCommerce website, the web development team chose to build a simple and easy to access management module so that the client could make change to their website without having to hire a web maintenance team. The web development also studied client’s offline shop database and developed a tool to transfer data between MySQL and client’s database fast and efficiently.
