Migration of web to TYPO3 CMS Development

This case was a Typo3 CMS web development project with fixed price business model. The client operated a medium-sized business consulting company in Toronto, Canada. Their existed web was developed in PHP and it was difficult to manage content, graphics, links and other web elements. The web was designed modern and well-organized, however, it required web developers to do the daily or weekly webpage updates and web management. Because the web can be managed by the people who have web technical ability only, so the client had to ask someone people to be taken away from their work to make necessary web changes. Why Typo3

Typo3 is the most high end and free PHP-based open source content management system and can run on several web servers and operating systems, such as Apache, IIS, Linux, Microsoft Windows, or Mac OS X. It supports MySQL, Oracle and other database. Typo3 allows people to update, add, and remove content from their web simply through their web browser. With Typo3, people also can add new functionalities or remove existed functionalities to meet their specific requirements.

Solution

The Typo3 PHP-based open source CMS offers more than 3,400 Typo3 extensions or in common terms like modules or components – plug & play type. Our web developers migrated the old web functionalities and the clients’ new requirements to fit in these Typo3 extensions and customized these Typo3 extensions. Our Typo3 developers also adopted TypoScript as a configuration language to promote web. TemplaVoila was another necessary Typo3 technology during the project. TemplaVoila is an alternative template engine extension for Typo3. TemplaVoila is a graphical mapping tool that allows developers to create page module, flexible content elements and an API (Application Programming Interface) without programming.
